[Fulltime] Lecturer - Electrical Installation at South Thames College

South Thames College is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver outstanding quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students, to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum, with employer engagement, and learner skills development.

You’ll create and implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment and deliver teaching and assessment activities within own area of specialism including lectures, setting/marking coursework, practical’s and field work.

We’d like you to hold a teaching qualification (or working towards), hold an Electrical Installation qualification and have recent UK teaching experience in Electrical Installation in an FE College. With proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons, you’ll have experience of assessing, tracking and supporting student progress effectively with strong classroom management skills, able to motivate diverse learners.

You’ll have good understanding of current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards, able to differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs. A strong communicator and excellent organisational skills, you’ll be able to manage workload and meet deadlines.

There will be up to £5K uplift (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:

Relevant Vocational Qualification (Level 3)
Teaching qualification or willingness to complete
Relevant industry experience

There will be a further uplift up to £5K (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:

Hold a JIB ECS Card with a grade at approved of Site Technician status

Kingston College has an exciting opportunity for a Student Support Adviser to join the team and play a key role in helping learners overcome barriers, achieve their potential and successfully progress into further education, training or employment. Working closely with students, colleagues and external organisations, you’ll provide high-quality information, advice, guidance and personalised support. You’ll take a holistic approach, tailoring your support to each learner’s individual circumstances while helping to safeguard their wellbeing and encourage them to engage fully in college life.

As our Student Support Adviser, you’ll have proven experience of working with vulnerable young people, with a strong track record of supporting learners who may be disengaged or disaffected. You’ll understand how to build positive relationships and use effective strategies to re-engage young people with education or training and help prevent them from dropping out. You’ll have experience of working in a safeguarding capacity with young people, alongside a good understanding of safeguarding legislation and practice within an educational setting. You’ll also understand Post-16 education and the challenges young people may face when transitioning from pre to post-16 provision or returning to formal education after a period away.

Confident working with a diverse range of students, you’ll have experience of delivering workshops or tutorials, conducting interviews and reviews, and producing risk assessments and support plans. You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people, colleagues, customers and external agencies. You’ll be highly organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team, effectively prioritising your workload, meeting deadlines and remaining calm in a busy environment.

Strong IT skills are also essential, with confidence using systems and applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, intranet and website platforms, social media and student record systems such as ProMonitor/EBS. You’ll also be willing to undertake further training to develop your knowledge of College systems and software.

South Thames Colleges Group (anticipated bases at Merton and Carshalton Colleges) is seeking a Schools Partnership Coordinator to join the team on a fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will build and develop strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including local schools, careers advisers, prospective students and their parents. Using your communication, networking and relationship-building skills, you will act as an ambassador for the Colleges, promoting opportunities and supporting student recruitment across the region.

You will become part of a dedicated Schools Partnership team comprising two Schools Partnership Coordinators and a Schools Partnership Manager. While each coordinator has responsibility for a specific borough, providing schools and local authorities with a consistent point of contact, the team works collaboratively across the wider recruitment catchment area. Significant progress has already been made in strengthening partnerships and raising the profile of the Colleges, contributing to increased applications and student enrolment.

Working closely with the Marketing team, who produce and distribute promotional campaigns and materials, you will focus on developing stakeholder engagement and delivering a tailored programme of activities. This includes planning and facilitating assemblies, workshops, careers events and outreach initiatives that inspire prospective students and showcase the opportunities available at the Colleges.

The successful candidate will bring experience of working with learners in either a teaching or youth work setting. You will be a confident and engaging presenter, with the creativity to design and deliver inspiring presentations, workshops and activities for large groups of students. With excellent relationship-building skills, you will have a proven ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and be experienced in creating educational activities and resources that provide tailored information, advice and guidance.

At South Thames Colleges Group, we are on the lookout for an Advanced English Practitioner to play a crucial role in supporting both English teachers and students to improve achievement and attainment for students resitting their GCSE English exams across the Group.

This role involves delivering targeted interventions, offering high-quality instructional support and developing strategies that help students improve their grades, particularly focusing on achieving high grades. You will work closely with teachers to enhance the overall learning experience and outcomes for resit GCSE students.

You will develop and deliver revision workshops that specifically address key areas for improvement identified in the students’ mock exam results or progress assessment and offer advice and mentoring to teachers on how to support resit students, including the best ways to engage students, track progress, and deliver targeted interventions.

We are looking for someone with a degree in English or a closely related subject, together with a recognised teaching qualification and substantial experience teaching GCSE English. You will have a strong understanding of the GCSE English curriculum, particularly the knowledge and skills required for students to achieve Grade 4 and above. You will also have in-depth knowledge of GCSE English examination specifications, assessment objectives and grading criteria.

You will have experience of delivering effective one-to-one and small-group tuition, as well as targeted interventions that improve student outcomes. You will have experience of successfully monitoring and supporting “at-risk” learners to achieve or exceed their potential, confident in differentiating teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners, particularly those who have previously struggled in English. Most importantly, you will be passionate about improving student outcomes in English and committed to helping every student achieve their full potential and secure strong GCSE results.

Please note, this is a Group-wide role, and you will be expected to work from all STCG sites.
